Question by MIA mia mia: My bat I just got says "official baseball" does this mean I got a baseball bat instead of softball?
My bat price $ 60 plz say it is a softball bat ps. I'm in elementary sport

Question by aalbert3: Is there any way to reduce the weight of a Senior league baseball bat. I know on softball bats you can "DR."
My son is really small and is now playing on a team that calls for "fat head" bats. The problem is the lightest ones are 19 oz and that is 4.5oz heaiver then he swung last year. I know softball bats can be altered, I didn't know if senior baseball bats could be lightened any. We already do away with the leather grips and go with tape.

A baseball bat is a smooth wooden or a metal club, which is used in a game of baseball in order to hit the ball when it is thrown by the pitcher. Anyone who plays baseball or softball with a composite (carbon fiber) bat has heard about people ‘juicing’ their bat.  There are several ways to increase the hitting power of your bat, some legal and others not.  You can bring you bat to a professional and get it rolled for to to add some power or you can have someone shave the inside walls of your bat for or more.  I’m going to explain the easiest way to add distance to your bat without spending any money.  Simply follow these few instructions and you can start watching your hits travel over some fences just like the guys on your team that spent a small fortune.

Make sure that your bat is a composite bat without any cracks in it.  Somewhere on the bat it will have the word “composite.”

For best results, let the bat heat up a little bit.  I wouldn’t suggest a bat barbecue, but you could try leaving it in a hot car or in the sun for a few hours before going to work on it.  Incidentally, a warm bat hits harder so if you can leave your bat in your hot car right up until game time, do so.

Lay your bat on a soft surface like a carpet or a few layers of cardboard.  If you try this while your bat is lying on tile or concrete, you may damage the bat or the floor!

Take a medium size rubber mallet and strike the bat’s sweet spot with firm blows.  With a rubber mallet, you can swing almost full strength to get the desired results.  Do not use a regular hammer!  A hammer will crack and damage your bat!

Rotate the bat and strike up and down the sweet spot of the bat evenly around the circumference of the bat.  Continue to do so until you have struck the bat 400 to 500 times.  Be sure to hit all sides of the bat with the same amount of blows.  Some bats even have a numbering system around the bat so that you can tell which side of the bat you are on.

When you are done hitting the bat, bring the bat into the air conditioning or cool room for the next 12-24 hours.  Before your next game or batting practice, try to warm the bat a little for best effect.
