   The fact that there is 150 years of history and you have the chance at any time to see something crazy that hasn’t happened in 150 years!!! It seems everyday someone in baseball is doing something that hasn’t been done in forever!! What are the odds of that when so many people play so many games? That’s amazing!!

   Steroids. They are the reason baseball came back from the dead. Everyone wants to see towering home runs and Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa and just about every other player since has provided that….due to steroids.

   That’s just it. There isn’t ONE. There are myriad reasons. Too many to keep in focus to answer the question. Figuring out baseball is like figuring out life. The instant you think, "I got it!!!"

   Baseball is the best because there isn’t a clock running. Even if it’s twenty to nothing, you can still come back in the ninth inning to win the game. And they play ties games until someone wins, even if it’s hours and hours — no shootouts or sudden death or whatever they do in other sports!

   It’s obvious GALBRAITH or whatever his name is has never played before, and I’m not talking about being a "little league all-star". If he actually thinks that steroids are the sole reason for homeruns being so high then it’s quite apparent that he has never really swung a bat in a game before! What makes baseball great is that you have to beat incredible odds to make even an appearance in a major league game. You may get drafted, but that doesn’t mean squat. Every player who gets called up has earned his way, climbing the long ladder through the minor leagues. Yeah some are quicker than others but for most it’s a long journey.

   It is a combination of 3 things
   1) matchups whether it s pitcher vs hitter, fielders vs runners or individual matchups (ex: riviera vs manny, or seaver vs carlton)
   2) rivalries again either divisionally, individual leagues, or nl vs al
   3) Ballparks old or new regional foods or specialty foods and of course the particular parks fans in attendance, if you ve been to other ballparks other than your home favorites you know from which I speak.
   These three factors over time make baseball by far the best sport to be a fan of. You don t have that with other sports. You may have rivalries and ballparks but nowhere do you get the individual matchups on every single pitch and play like baseball.

   Baseball is the only sport where you could be absolutely dominating one not to be terribly. So I guess watching people succeeding every night. Also the better team doesn’t always win.

    I gravitate to baseball because The Yankees are New York’s only hope at a championship. The Knicks suck. Thomas and Marbury are a cancer. The Giants can only go as far as Eli Manning, which isn’t promising. The Yankees own New York and the fans.

    What's the one reason that makes baseball so great?
    This isn’t a sarcastic question, really, what is the ‘one’ thing that makes this sport the best?
