Softball Equipment Archives

I want to play softball, what equipment do I need?

The first item that we will look at in softball equipment is that of the helmet. This helmet is made from material which is lightweight to hold and yet this material is very strong. The strength is needed as the force of the softball is very fast and without the helmet the players face or head would be severely injured.

To help protect the face you will find that on the front of the helmet there is a face guard. This guard makes sure that the ball will not have any chance of impacting with the face and causing massive damage.

Now having covered the face we will travel to the body. This piece of softball equipment is one that you will only see on the catcher as this person is directly behind the hitter and is liable to getting injured by the fast flying ball.

The next piece of softball equipment which we will look at is one of the more important items around. This item is that of the softball bat. As the game of softball is one that is wielded by young children the boys are preparing for baseball and the girls for softball and women you will find that there is a need for a bat which is not too heavy to wield.

I am a Softball coach for the little league and high school. I am looking for a wholesale supplier that has special prices for teams and organizations. They exist for tennis but I am unable to find any for softball. There are many online stores that claim discounts but are not true wholesale. The one I use for tennis is only accesable with a password and is only available to schools and other businesses. It had to be verified before a account was set up. Pricing is 30%-80% off of retail on current and last seasons items.
Thanks in advance

They are a registry of manufacturers and wholesale distributors. You can find everything from lingerie to baseballs.

I used Thomas Registry when you had to go to the library...it was 12-14 NY phone book sized

-could you do any of the following:
collect the mail/take the trash can to the road etc... for an elderly neighbor
-walk someones dog
-sweep the driveway/walkway at your house or a neighbors
-rake the yard
-help plant flowers etc....
-vacuum/dust/mop (all the icky jobs your mom might hate)
-clean your sister/brothers room
-light chores like dusting etc.... for a neighbor
-playing (for pay of course) with a young neighbor so the parent can get some chores done. Not babysitting.... you'd do it while the parent was home; you'd keep the kid busy and occupied plus it will give you experience when you are ready to babysit
-are there errands you can do for elderly neighbors like pick things up for them when your mom goes to the grocery store. You'd go with her and do the neighbors shopping.
-tutor someone younger than you in math or reading if you're good at the subject

These are a few things I can think of off the top of my head. I don't know how old you are or if you live in a good neighborhood etc..... but if you have older people who can't/don't get out much you could probably do odd jobs for them You might also be able to do some of the same types of jobs if you have neighbors who both work and have very young kids. It would give them some free time that they would otherwise spend doing boring things.

I hope this helps you and I wish you luck. I admire a youth who is willing to work to get what they want!!!!!!!!!!!

i need help on buying softball equipment?

hi. i want to order softballs and a bat but there are so many options!
for softballs there are softballs for slow pitches, fast pitches, etc etc. and im not sure what kind of bat to get. i want everything to be good quality but not exceeding $60
im going to buy these from either www.sportsauthority.com or dick's sporting goods
thnks
oh and also, im not getting this equipment for school or a team. im getting them so i can practice outside with my brothers and sisters.

Unfortunatly you wll not find any quality bats for under 60 dollars but if you decide to buy a real bat then buy an Easton Stealth. as for soft balls it all depends on what your playing i would say your playing slow pitch tho so buy any cheap slow pitch balls.

Hope i helped :-)

I also want to know what do I need to take to my tryout?? I am totally clueless right now.
JMS: so ur basically saying i should give up?? what a great thing to say to a 13 yr old..all i wanted to know was what to take to a tryout because ive never tried out for a sport..way to bring someone's spirits down!

You'll need a glove that you've worked with so it's not stiff and hard to catch with. A bat that's the right length and weight. You might wanna get a helmet some coaches have extra ones but I think that it's better to have your own I know I do. And it's a good idea to get a helmet with a face guard. That's all you really need some people like to get extra stuff it just depends what position your planning on playing.
