Bob, a local batmaker in Providence, RI recreates the famous Burlingame Base Ball bat popular with professional ball players in the 1880s. This is a model of bat that was manufactured exclusively in Providence, RI. Bob has recently begun supllying bats for the Cornish Game Hens of Providence, RI Vintage Base Ball Club. It’s not a fungo …
It’s not a fungo bat. Those are much longer. Like the fellow said, this was a style of bat used in the 1880’s where the barrel wasn’t much bigger than the handle. The guys didn’t hit for power back in those days.

it’s a fungo… it’s a bat used for coaches during drills/practice.
It helps the coach hit the ball without using most of his strength. With the way this designed, the bat does most of the work. Rather than an old man huffing and puffing after 4 swings.
